Description¶
The review codes argumentative reasoning gains on five levels combining structural and functional elements: main (claims/reasons), elaborated (evidence, questions, TAP structure), complex (internal relationships and quality of evidence/justification), dialogic (transactivity, critique, rebuttal), and dialectic (revision or integration of alternative theories, quality of counterarguments, critical questions). The authors state: "we had previously identified five types or levels of arguments, comprising both structural and functional elements, namely: main, elaborated, complex, dialogic, and dialectic". Table 1 details the codes per level, e.g., level 4 codes T, CAR, CAR/E for dialogic argument.
