Description¶
CAPERS organizes the integration of participatory and synthesis methods through "five mixed-methods functions (Palinkas et al. 2011a, b) that are tailored to the research synthesis workstream": Convergence (same question, both methods), Complementarity (related questions, elaboration), Expansion (one method extends the other), Development (one method informs the design or coding of the other), and Sampling (one method guides selection for the other). Each function is defined with rationale, an extant-literature example, and an educational psychology application.
