Description¶
Knowledge construction quality was operationalized with a content analysis coding scheme based on Veldhuis-Diermanse (2002), itself grounded in the SOLO taxonomy of Biggs and Collis. 'The original coding scheme consists of five hierarchical levels (after Biggs and Collis 1982; Biggs 1999) from basic to advanced': E prestructural, D unistructural, C multistructural, B relational, and A extended abstract. Contributions in the Drewlite comment screens were segmented into meaningful units, coded with level-specific verbs, scored 1-5 points, and averaged per student. Inter-rater Cohen's kappa was 0.78 for test 1 and 0.81 for test 2, with 85% identical scores on intra-coder retest.
