Description¶
Observer reports were collected through teacher nominations in which teachers selected up to 5 students they considered at the high and low ends of emotion regulation ability from alphabetical lists of students they taught. Nominations of difficulty regulating emotions were assigned −1, nominations of being good at regulating emotions were assigned 1, and non-nominated students received 0. To account for unequal numbers of students taught by different teachers, nominations by each teacher were standardized and summed across all teachers. Teachers were instructed to base judgments on classroom observation rather than general reputation.
