Description

The framework supplies criteria applicable before instruction for classifying cognitive operations relative to a learning goal. The specification criterion asks whether the operation or its reasoning is named in the learning goal or its underlying standard; the assessment-demand criterion asks whether the criterion assessment, an unaided task at a delay, would require the learner to perform the operation or its equivalent. These yield a graded quantity, constitutive weight, with erosion risk rising monotonically in that weight. The learner's developmental status is kept separate, modulating how much practice a given learner still needs without changing the classification.
