Description¶
A compulsory advanced course in the fully online BA degree at UOC was redesigned around a realistic job scenario: students, as recently hired assistant finance managers, produce a professional financial report for their superior, the financial manager (the instructor), to present at a board of directors meeting. "Students were required to conduct four learning activities individually; these activities would provide the theoretical and practical basis for completing the last activity, the final financial report." Six roughly 3-minute videos embedded in the virtual classroom recreated supervisor meetings every 18–20 days, and students used the professional SABI database for sector comparison. Assessment was continuous with personalized feedback at each stage.
