Description¶
The article defines brain based learning as "a learning process that is aligned with a brain designed naturally to learn" (Jensen, 2008). In this study it was implemented as a sequence of stages — pre-explanation, preparation, initiation and acquisition, elaboration, incubation, verification, and integration — applied to polyhedron instruction in the experimental class. Each stage pairs a brain-oriented activity (mind mapping, group discussion, music and brain games, celebration) with conceptual-understanding goals.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Teachers act as facilitators across the stages, introducing mind maps and maintaining a conducive, fun learning atmosphere
Constraints¶
- The article evaluates the model only for eighth-grade polyhedron mathematics in one school
Target Learners¶
- second grade junior high school (grade VIII) students
Learning Goals¶
- mathematics conceptual understanding of polyhedron
