Description

A computerised training intervention conveying conceptual and procedural knowledge about the Toulmin model within a constructivist learning environment using Jonassen's (1999) cognitive modelling approach. It comprised a theoretical introduction with examples and learning goals, explanation prompts, two video tutorials modelling typical and atypical arguments with an expert model, twelve practice texts of varied argument types, and immediate feedback with a progress table. Participants could access theoretical information, tutorials, and notes at all stages.
