Description

CLE Model III is a structured instructional sequence that "begins with a reading stage and continues through a writing task stage systematically." The six steps are: (1) Orientation, including contextualization, mapping the topic, surveying text organization, establishing genre, and dealing with unfamiliar vocabulary; (2) Reflections, producing a writing plan; (3) Note-taking, individually and in groups; (4) Synthesizing new text as a first draft; (5) Editing through reviewing, redrafting, and polishing; and (6) Final copy and elaboration. Students participate in both individual and group work throughout.
