Description

CREATE is an explicit, theory-grounded meta-creative pedagogy whose acronym names six strategies: comprehending the core problem and subproblems, reconstructing connections, exploring and experimenting, adding more ideas, thinking over constraints and reservations ("True but…"), and evaluating. It combines regulation of cognition, creative self-regulation, and metacognitive pedagogy, training students "to be aware of their creative thinking process, while also fostering fluency, flexibility, and the generation of original ideas." The article presents it as suitable for natural classroom settings.
