Daily one-to-one tutoring session structure: re-reading, word study, sentence writing, new books¶
Design · All designs
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
Early Steps sessions follow a repeating daily structure in which tutors use "a series of leveled, non-phonetic books" and "follow a daily schedule of re-reading familiar books, systematic word study, sentence writing, and introducing new books." This 30-minute, five-days-a-week structure recurs across the entire first grade year, giving each session a predictable sequence of familiar reading, word-level work, writing, and new text introduction.
