Description¶
The ECHOS instructional pattern pairs teacher-led small-group core science lessons with parallel integration activities for the rest of the class. Units are "sequenced to present increasingly more complex science process skills," and the 36 lessons follow "a project-designed learning sequence designed to provide teachers with a logical structure to deliver lessons that promote learning by thinking and doing." The i-Cards "provide open-ended explorations that reinforce the science concepts introduced in the lessons."
Design Implications¶

Constraints¶
- Lessons are introduced in 20-minute segments to small groups of 6–8 children, as designed for preschool settings
Target Learners¶
- Preschool children ages 3–5
Learning Goals¶
