Description¶

A Tier 2 intervention drawn from the core reading program HMH Journeys: Strategic Intervention, which "is aligned with Tier 1 (i.e., classroom) content and provides students with explicit and systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, ﬂuency, comprehension, and vocabulary through scripted lessons", plus Curious about Words, a vocabulary supplement introducing eight to 12 new words weekly through read-alouds, discussion, graphic organizers, and partner activities. Unlike the stand-alone materials, it had no implementation manual, so REL Southeast staff developed training materials covering scope and sequence and instructional procedures.
