Description¶
A self-designed wiki environment on energy sources in which awareness information appears as horizontal bars in the discussion forum in the header and next to threads. Yellow knowledge bars visualize subgroup knowledge; blue participation bars visualize contribution counts, with low, medium, and high levels presented at individual, whole-group, and subgroup levels across 12 discussion threads on energy types.
Design Implications¶
Context¶

- Participants received an explanation of the bar functions without being explicitly told how to deal with such GA information.
Constraints¶
- The wiki article itself contained no GA visualizations; bars appeared only in the discussion forum header and beside threads.
Target Learners¶
- University students collaborating on wiki articles
Learning Goals¶
- Collaborative writing
- Content selection from discussion forums
