Description¶
The study frames reading intervention within inclusion theory, in opposition to segregation theory, asking whether learners with dyslexia should be taught in inclusive settings with learners without dyslexia. It draws on the construction-integration (C-I) model and the reader's situation model, in which "text comprehension could be explicated by a collaborative combination of top-down process which is knowledge-guided and bottom-up process which is word-guided." Inclusion "requires full engagement in general education" with support provided "within normalized settings."
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Full inclusion of students with dyslexia alongside those without dyslexia in the same classrooms, as agreed with the participating schools

Target Learners¶
- Middle school EFL learners with and without dyslexia in inclusive classrooms
Learning Goals¶
- Reading comprehension of narrative and expository texts
Claims¶
- Grade7 Combined Strategy Narrative Outperformed [+M]
