Description¶
KUHT-TV is the University of Houston's educational TV station, evaluated for instructional effectiveness and audience reaction. The study enrolled "17 subjects were enrolled in a TV-lecture only (correspondence) section, 96 in a traditional campus lecture section, 30 in a section which had TV-lectures plus two campus discussion periods a week" in psychology, and matched traditional versus TV-plus-discussion sections in biology. An audience telephone questionnaire to 384 people measured viewing behavior and program preferences.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Television lecture delivery, with campus discussion periods added in one psychology section and in the biology TV section

Target Learners¶
- college students in elementary psychology and elementary biology courses
- Houston-wide television audience
Learning Goals¶
- college-level elementary psychology and elementary biology achievement
