Description

The developed curriculum comprises 12 topics delivered in a nursing AMS course: AMS and nurses' role; basic microbiology; basic pharmacology and antibiotic classes; AMS strategies and policies; nurses' role in improving antimicrobial allergy labelling; infection prevention and control; optimal microbiology testing and drug level sampling; safe antimicrobial storage and administration; AMS in sepsis; AMS clinical pearls; patient education; and nursing empowerment in AMS. Topics were "intentionally arranged such that the course starts with foundational concepts" with topics requiring greater clinical judgment placed later to build knowledge and enable informed clinical reasoning.
