Description¶
The Student Progress Page (SPP) is Wayang's open student model, which "allows students to inspect their progress and the tutor's assessment of their work". It lists mathematics topics, displays effort as a blooming plant, shows a BKT-based mastery bar, offers tutor comments, and provides buttons to continue, review or challenge. It is designed to encourage reflection on progress, greater control and responsibility over learning, and increased trust through transparency, supporting self-assessment and goal setting at moments of boredom.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Students must be able to view topic-level effort and mastery assessments and choose next steps (continue, review, challenge, switch topics)
Constraints¶
- Currently students cannot modify the student model or dispute the assessment of their own knowledge
Target Learners¶
- middle and high school mathematics students
Learning Goals¶
- self-regulated learning
- reflection on progress
- goal setting
