Description

A lesson-level instructional pattern for clinical skills teaching that embeds peer role-play and peer assessment in collaborative group learning. After theoretical instruction, students in groups of 3–4 follow: case-based introduction, group formation with rubrics, an instructor-led demonstration in which the instructor "role-played the patient's perspective behind the anatomical model", peer practice, and facilitated observation. It was used with international medical students learning gynecological examination.

Design Implications

Target Learners

  • International medical students in obstetrics and gynecology clerkships

Learning Goals

  • Gynecological examination skills including patient-centered communication, empathy, and technical procedural proficiency
