Description¶
The Preliminary English Test (PET) served as the homogenization test selecting intermediate learners. The administered sample covered reading (five parts), writing (three parts) and listening (four parts); the speaking section was omitted because a qualified examiner was not available without Cambridge supervision and the study's focus was reading comprehension. After piloting with 30 students, "three items out of the 65 total items were found to be malfunctioning and were excluded", leaving 62 items plus two writing tasks scored out of 75 marks.
