Description¶
A lesson-level instructional pattern adapted from Brown and Palincsar (1984) in which each 90-minute session works through one ~300-word text: the teacher activates background knowledge, models prediction from the title, students read silently and check predictions, identify text elements, draw a text map of main ideas and supporting details, write a summary from the map, and share summaries before answering comprehension questions. The article reports that "the teacher asked them to make text mapping of the main ideas and supporting details, here they could use colo ur pencils to clear their ma pping". It was applied over twelve sessions with descriptive, procedure, and report texts.
