Description¶
Online modules designed by teachers after SRL&T professional development, integrating reflective questions as SRL prompts into pre-existing teaching materials. Modules served as both instruction and data sources: "each module was analysed twice—first, as an indicator of the teachers' SRL&T level, and second, as the source for the students' reflective replies." Examples include Adam's climate change module and Ben's spectrophotometry module delivered via Google Classroom.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Teachers need assessment knowledge to design reflective prompts of graded levels
- Modules were adapted from teachers' pre-existing teaching materials during PD training
Constraints¶
- Reflective prompting analysis is conducted independently of student responses to keep evaluation unbiased
Target Learners¶
- 10th-12th grade secondary students in science and chemistry classes
Learning Goals¶
- Self-regulated learning skills including goal-setting, help-seeking, elaboration, and reflection
