Description¶
The co-designed framework organises design principles into five categories: General principles, Cross-curricular skills, Ways of teaching and learning, Socio-emotional aspects, and Educational compatibility. As the article states, "The co-designed framework, which is strengthened by the research literature, entails the following design principle categories". Each category holds between four and twelve principles, each with supporting literature and concrete application examples, developed to guide hybrid STEM learning environment design but presented as adaptable to other learning environments.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Principles are grounded in both stakeholder input and empirical and theoretical literature
Constraints¶
- Developed mainly to support the design of a hybrid STEM learning environment, though argued to be generic enough for other environments
Target Learners¶
- 10-18-year-old primary, lower and upper secondary school students
Learning Goals¶
- STEM interest and motivation
- cross-curricular (twenty-first century) skills
- subject-related STEM competencies
