Description

The second CRITICS component is a Teaching and Learning Sequence generator that investigates how to transform translated scientific literature into structured educational resources. It works "by analyzing the corpus to identify key concepts and pedagogical approaches, extracting argumentation graphs to generate TLSs". The TLSs specify driving problems/questions, learning objectives focused on competency acquisition, scientific practices including argumentation and critical thinking, and activities for science students, following Design-Based Research and curriculum-aligned teaching-learning.

Design Implications

Context

Requirements

  • machine-translated scientific corpora as input
  • argumentation graphs extracted from the corpus
  • alignment with learning objectives and competency acquisition

Constraints

  • TLSs are developed for topic-specific competency-based assessments in natural sciences and AI

Target Learners

  • science students in higher education

Learning Goals

  • competency acquisition
  • scientific argumentation
  • critical thinking
