Description¶
The Department of Education at the University of Vermont was organized around the premise that education study should serve teachers of other subjects rather than stand as an isolated elective. As Messenger writes, "The chief function of the department of education is to strengthen them as teachers of those subjects." Students completing two years of required work receive the Bachelor of Science in Education, and students enrolled in other departments may take education courses and have the words "in education" appended to their baccalaureate degree.
Design Implications¶

Target Learners¶
- Undergraduates preparing to teach elementary and secondary school subjects
