Description¶
A NWEA release of national achievement and growth norms, percentiles, and norms tables for MAP Growth assessments across U.S. public-school students.
Components¶
- 2025 MAP Growth Achievement and Growth Norms dataset and norms tables: The 2025 MAP Growth Norms are a released set of national achievement and growth norms for U.S. public school students, derived from "a comprehensive dataset from 30% of all US public schools, makingthemoneofthelargestnormingsamplesevercreated". The release includes student and school achievement norms and percentiles for Mathematics and Reading (K–12), Language Usage (grades 2–11), and Science (grades 2–10), plus growth norms tables (Appendices A–C), built from Survey with Goals adaptive test events meeting reliability and growth-event eligibility criteria. (2025 MAP Growth Norms Technical Manual (2025))
Claims¶
- EISA-based MAP Growth testing produced slightly lower fall Mathematics scores but higher winter and spring Mathematics scores than traditional MAP Growth, and equipercentile linking was used to align the two versions for norming [+M]
- The 2025 MAP Growth norms were derived from one of the largest norming samples ever created, spanning 116,225,831 test events from 13,804,182 students in 29,720 schools across 7,000 districts over six testing terms [+M]
- The 2025 MAP Growth norming sample showed no systematic differences from the U.S. public school target population on selected school-level correlates, with no standardized mean difference reaching the 0.2 threshold [+M]
- Across 90 grade-subject-level conditions, the three-piece piecewise model showed the lowest deviance for 64% of student-level and 78% of school-level models, outperforming both compound polynomial candidates [+M]
- The 2025 MAP Growth norms adopted a two-year, two-level piecewise mixed-effects design because two consecutive years of data are sufficient for within-year and adjacent-year growth norms [+M]
