Description¶
MAP Growth norms are NWEA's nationally normed assessment benchmarks that report student achievement percentiles and conditional growth comparisons using multilevel growth models.
Components¶
Claims¶
- Under the 2025 MAP Growth norms, the same reading RIT score can rank higher in achievement percentile due to national declines in achievement [+W]
- Post-COVID norm shifts and NWEA's enhanced item selection algorithm change the interpretation of MAP Growth metrics for school accountability [~W]
- Under the 2025 norms, higher math growth expectations lower conditional growth percentiles for higher-growth students [~W]
- MAP Growth cut scores at the 30th percentile of national norms best identify Grade K-8 students in need of intensive intervention in reading and mathematics [+W]
- Static percentile screening cut points carried across norm sets can under-identify students who remain below grade level [~W]
