Description

A school-based programme run by its developers in which primary students play selected commercial analogue board games during school hours to train executive functions and support reading and mathematics skills.

Components

  • Conectar Jugando classroom board-game programme: Conectar Jugando (Connecting Through Play) is a school intervention programme in which students play commercial analogue board games during school hours to train basic executive functions and support academic skills. "The Conectar Jugando Group received 12 gaming sessions over six weeks", each lasting one hour and held twice a week, with students in groups of three to five playing two games face-to-face. Teachers received a manual specifying session organisation and which games to use; commercial games were selected by an expert committee for the executive functions and curriculum competencies they could train.
