Description¶
A leadership framework developed by Stiles et al. for state, district, regional, school, and teacher leaders implementing the Next Generation Science Standards in K–12 systems.
Components¶
- Four-domain framework for leading NGSS implementation: The Framework for Leading Next Generation Science Standards Implementation answers the question of what leaders need to know and be able to do to lead NGSS implementation. It comprises four domains: Leadership Knowledge (six knowledge areas), Critical Actions (eleven actions), Impacting NGSS Teaching and Learning (classroom interactions among teachers, NGSS, and students surrounded by six system drivers), and Sustaining Implementation of NGSS. The article states it "provides a vision of the four major domains that leaders focus on as they lead the implementation of the NGSS." Domains interact through a continuous improvement cycle connecting leaders' actions to classroom impact. (Stiles et al. (2017))
