Description¶
A statewide Illinois policy and programme redesign for preparing and certifying school principals through selective admissions, competency-based coursework, internships, and performance assessments.
Components¶
- Illinois Principal Preparation Program Theory of Change with feedback loop: The Illinois principal preparation redesign is organized around a theory of change depicting a pipeline from selection of high-potential candidates, through course work and school-based learning experiences including internships, to performance-based assessments, principal certification, placement in schools, highly effective principals and assistant principals, and schools demonstrating positive change. The theory of change evolved over a 10 year period and "identifies the critical elements of the new policy." A feedback loop involves data gathered and analyzed for external evaluation to inform effective policies and practices for continuous improvement. (Klostermann et al. (2015))
