Description

LUDIA is a browser-based, private, multilingual AI thought-partner tool developed by Stark et al. to help educators and instructional designers identify and reduce instructional barriers using the Universal Design for Learning Guidelines.

Components

  • Privacy and accessibility as architecture, not settings, in an educator AI tool: The relaunched LUDIA embodies a design pattern in which privacy and accessibility are treated as "the architecture" rather than settings: no cookies, no accounts, no server-side chat content, no data collected for model training, and exchanges that are downloadable and re-uploadable. Accessibility is designed to WCAG 2.2 Level AA with keyboard-only operation, screen reader support tested with four screen readers, browser zoom to 400 percent with content reflowing, light and dark schemes, and adjustable notification dismiss timing. The absence of an account is itself framed as barrier removal, letting educators without institutional backing use the tool on the same terms as anyone else. (Stark et al. (2026))
