Description¶
REMind is a semi-autonomous robot-mediated applied-drama prototype that uses embodied robot characters and human-facilitated Forum Theatre-style rehearsal to support children's social-emotional and anti-bullying learning.
Components¶
- Robot-Mediated Applied Drama (RMAD): robots as embodied dramatic proxies for social-emotional learning: Robot-Mediated Applied Drama is a pedagogical framework in which social robots are used "not as tutors, but as embodied dramatic proxies" through which learners simulate social situations, reflect on emotional nuances, and rehearse prosocial action. Drawing on Forum Theatre, a Joker facilitator guides reflection while a Wizard orchestrates the drama. The article positions RMAD as a promising framework for supporting anti-bullying social-emotional learning by combining embodiment, narrative, and rehearsal. (Elaheh Sanoubari et al. (2026))
Claims¶
- Playing REMind significantly increased children's perceived self-efficacy for defending peers [+M]
- During REMind, nearly all children reported feeling sad for the victim and attributed bystander inaction mainly to low confidence or fear of retaliation [+M]
