Description

SNAIL is a 31-item self-report scale developed to assess technical understanding, critical appraisal, and practical application of AI literacy among non-experts and students.

Components

  • SNAIL: a general-population self-report scale with the three-factor TUCAPA model of AI literacy: SNAIL (Scale for the Assessment of Non-experts' AI Literacy) is a 31-item general-population scale developed from a Delphi expert study, whose exploratory factor analysis yielded the three-factor TUCAPA model: "technical understanding, critical appraisal, and practical application". It has been revalidated in Turkish and in German for learning-gains use. The review rates it a promising instrument with high evidence for structural validity and internal consistency, but notes an indicated floor effect, with almost half of items having >15% lowest-score responses.
