Description

A UK longitudinal twin cohort dataset following individuals born in 1994–1996 across childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, maintained by the TEDS research team and available to researchers under its data-access policy.

Components

  • Twins Early Development Study (TEDS) longitudinal cohort and STEM career choice measure: TEDS is a UK longitudinal twin cohort born 1994–1996, representative of England and Wales in ethnicity and SES, with a 76.5% response rate by early adulthood. The study used waves at ~1.5 years, ~16, ~18–21 and ~21–24, randomly selecting one twin per pair. STEM career choice was self-reported degree/apprenticeship choices at age 21, classified via the HESA HECoS coding system and coded dichotomously. (Ferdinand et al. (2024))
