Description¶
The review organises the field of digital writing-support technologies using a framework of 26 quantitative and qualitative features spanning four axes: writing processes, pedagogical approaches, feedback modalities and technological specifications. It applies this framework to a systematic analysis of 44 tools supporting first and second language writers in secondary and higher education, focusing on "instructional affordances based on their technological specifications". The framework also distinguishes micro-level revision support from macro-level strategy support, enabling the review to locate gaps in the state of the art.
