Description¶
The article organizes frameworks for conceptualizing instructional quality along a continuum adapted from Charalambous and Praetorius (2018), in which "Senden et al. (2022) adjusted this continuum by building on three categories: generic frameworks, subject-specific frameworks, and hybrid frameworks." Generic frameworks emphasize general-level aspects without subject-specific teaching demands (e.g., the Three Basic Dimensional framework of classroom management, cognitive activation, and supportive climate); subject-specific frameworks focus on content-related interactions (e.g., MQI, M-Scan, IQA); hybrid frameworks combine both, exemplified by the Dynamic Model of Educational Effectiveness with eight key decisions. The study uses this continuum to interpret whether its identified dimensions reflect generic or mathematics-specific features.
