Description

The article draws on Decuypere's (2021) methodological framework of topologies of digital data practices, defined as "the actions, performances, and the resulting consequences of introducing data-producing technologies in everyday situations". Decuypere presents "four topologies of data practices... Interface (on), Usage (with), Design (behind) and Ecology (beyond)", together constituting the IUDE-toolbox. The framework uses topologies as the basic unit of analysis to study the qualitative qualities of relations between actors, and is explicitly non-one-size-fits-all and adaptable.
