Description¶
The HSoM curriculum pattern organises literacy and numeracy lessons around termly musical themes, supplemented by enrichment visits and project work. SHINE's guiding principles in the 'Making it Work' handbook include "project work, hands-on learning, and opportunities for enrichment which enabled students to apply their learning to real world contexts" and "an emphasis on investigative and collaborative learning and research projects which encouraged problem-solving and independent learning". The pattern also allows curriculum flexibility for trips and visits to re-engage demotivated learners.
