Description¶
The article concludes that "the teacher can foster the resiliency characteristics among at -risk students by helping them acquirea protective mechanism through providing supportive environment and developing protective factors contributing towards resilience." Teachers do this by providing purposeful activities and opportunities that encourage students to apply their skills, providing explanations, encouraging students to elaborate their responses, appreciating and applauding successes, and providing support during task learning. The study demonstrated this in a three-month intervention with at-risk secondary students.
