Description¶
This element is the research setup described in Terry's monograph 'How Numerals are Read', a University of Chicago Supplementary Educational Monograph. Part I used introspective methods with graduate students in four preliminary studies; in Part II, "photographic apparatus was used to record the eye movements of six adult subjects". Subjects read simple arithmetical problems, isolated numerals of various lengths, and ordinary prose. The review presents it as an addition to the Chicago reading monographs and as introductory work on the eye habits involved in reading numerals.
