Description

iGuides is a web-based museum-trail system created by StreetAccess that delivers linked audio, text, video, and image content on handheld devices and lets learners create and share personalised trails.

Components

  • iGuides web-based museum trail system on PDAs at the Victoria and Albert Museum: The iGuides system, created by StreetAccess in 2004, links museum-created or external web pages into trails containing audio, text, video and images; users can input their own responses via photographs, voice recordings or text, creating personalised trails accessible on the web after the visit. Twenty trails were developed for HE design students at the V&A, hosted on the StreetAccess website and accessed via handheld PDAs over wireless networks installed in nine galleries. (Reynolds et al. (2010))
