Description¶
A networked collaborative modeling environment developed by Zhou et al. for elementary science students to construct, evaluate, revise, and peer-critique evidence-linked mechanistic models.
Components¶
- MEME: a networked collaborative modeling tool with evidence linking and commenting for peer critique: MEME (Modeling and Evidence Mapping Environment) is a CSCL tool supporting students in creating, sharing, evaluating, and revising qualitative models, "organized around entities, processes (mechanisms), and outcomes." Students can access an evidence library of brief reports and simulations, explicitly link evidence to model components with rationales, rate evidence strength, and justify ratings. Its commenting feature lets students comment on specific components of peers' models, select the most relevant evaluation criterion from a menu of class-shared criteria, and reply to comments — creating a shared space for collective, evidence-based modeling with integrated feedback.
