Description

The LoGeT model is a methodological framework for generating educational evidence that is localized, generalizable, and transferable. The authors state: "we propose the localize, generalize, and transfer (LoGeT) model to localize, generalize, and transfer scientific evidence for educational practice." It comprises a localization stage (co-design of interventions with teachers via context inquiry, participatory design, product design, and prototype-as-hypothesis phases), a generalization stage (implementing the interventions across diverse subjects, cohorts, and contexts and aggregating results with meta-analytic techniques such as mixed effect models), and a transfer stage (publishing materials as OER and communicating findings through practice-oriented outlets). The model is explicitly reciprocal rather than sequential, so transfer insights feed back into localization and generalization.

Accounts

  • The LoGeT model: a three-stage, reciprocal framework integrating co-design, ManyClasses, and transfer strategies: The LoGeT model is a methodological framework for generating educational evidence that is localized, generalizable, and transferable. (Lachner et al. (2024))
  • LoGeT framework: Localize-Generalize-Transfer for scaling educational interventions: The Localize-Generalize-Transfer (LoGeT) framework by Lachner et al. structures implementation research so evidence is grounded in real classrooms yet generalizable. "The LoGeT model integrates three essential stages: localization, generalization, and transfer." Localization uses co-design with teachers as key stakeholders; generalization applies the ManyClasses approach, running the same experimental setup across multiple settings, subjects, and student groups; transfer creates practical resources such as instructional guides so educators can implement the strategies beyond the original study. This study instantiated LoGeT by combining co-design with a ManyClasses design across 12 units. (Sibley et al. (2025))
