Description¶
The model's teaching and learning process follows the engineering design process with six steps: "problem identification, related information search, solution design, planning and development, testing evaluation, and design improvement and presentation". Each step integrates technology to support learning activities: learners brainstorm solutions, collect supporting information, design methods, develop sub-process prototypes, test performance under actual conditions and improve defective solutions, and demonstrate with appropriate technology.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Learners work through problem situations, brainstorming, data collection, design, prototyping, testing, and presentation in sequence
Constraints¶
Target Learners¶
- elementary school students
Target Goals¶
- technological process skills and ICT skill development
Claims¶
- Eleven experts rated the tentative STEM-ICT instructional model as appropriate at a high level [+W]
- Five professionals approved the model as appropriate at a high level [+W]
Related Patterns¶
- Six-part section structure for FEA-based experiential learning modules
- Six-step classroom C/I process: ideas, questions, positive comments, negative comments, metric, new ideas — cycled to refine the solution
